Kazuki Takeshita(Japan, 1988) is a photographer based in Japan.

After graduating from high school, I embarked on a journey with street artists, teaching myself photography along the way. Following the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, I utilized my Youth 18 Ticket to travel to disaster area, capturing the scenes of the tsunami areas. Subsequently, I engaged in volunteer activities supporting evacuees affected by the nuclear accident, and later founded a non-profit organization, participating in projects with the Reconstruction Agency.

Following the 2016 Kumamoto Earthquake, I worked tirelessly as a freelancer to support the affected areas. However, feeling unable to fully engage until the victims could rebuild their lives, I joined a non-profit organization, dedicating myself to supporting the reconstruction of their livelihoods. Yet, I felt that relief efforts alone could not express the fundamental issues facing society, prompting me to begin my journey as a photographer in earnest around 2020.

Through artist residencies, I reconnected with Tohoku, witnessing the rapid transformation of rural areas influenced by urban values, and growing concerned about the privatization of land and communities driven by neoliberalism. Presently, I primarily create photographic works using alternative methods.
